Most of the search results, were of course, pornographic. I then came across a performance artist, Vanessa Beecroft. http://www.vanessabeecroft.com/
She directed a performance, entitled VB55 at Berlin's National Art Gallery (story here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2005/apr/11/art.germany) In the performance, she had about 100 women standing still in the gallery, just wearing nude sheer to waist pantyhose.
First, I can't believe that I didn't find this earlier! Secondly, I am happy to see that it is considered art. It is definitely art that pushes the limit, but it is still considered art. A supreme Court Justice once said something to the effect of, I can't define pornography, or what it obscene, but I can tell you when I see it.
What I wonder is what kind the reaction would be, or if you could even get 100 men to do the same piece of performance art!
I am advancing in my techno knowledge. Here is a video from You Tube about the performance. It must be art and not porn, because they show it all in this video!
They are a bunch of hypcrites, if I understand correctly. They forbid photos, but somebody is allowed to record this video?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it pornography, but I definitely wouldn't call it art. I say that it's almost like exhibitionism, but with a weird philosophical justification.
I'm sure the video was something that the artist allowed. They did not allow, from what I gather, patrons to take photos, however the artist did have some done. They are available on her website.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little surprised that there were not more comments!
Mr. PH
Yes it is pantyhose art...
ReplyDeleteSome more very good pantyhose art
