New Shipment of Tights

I just received my order from Luxelegwear.com. I got a great deal on Gerbe men's pantyhose there. Apparently they have them on close out. It is too bad that they won't be carrying them any more, but I made out. I got three pairs of the Satin, for around $22 each. They retail for twice that at Comfilon. I also picked up a pair of the Voile all nylon sheer mens tights for $13. When I went to put them away, I realized that I have a lot of sheer tights in reserve. Before Comfilon discontinued their flagship 549 sheer tights with a fly, I had stocked up. I guess I won't be needing more sheer tights for a while. But need and want are two separate things.

Speaking of Comfilon, I received an email from them, and there is a post at Legwear as Unisex Fashion about Comfilon coming out with a pouch or trunk type sheer tight for men. I personally love the idea. The owner, Steve compared them to Doyeah's Cool Trunk Tights or the original Man-T-Hose. The difference will be that instead of an open or closed pouch/trunk, it will have a fly type end. I don't need a pair, but I want one badly, and I'm looking forward to seeing/wearing these. It may be a little fetish like, but I think it also has some function as well. Fetish, function, practical, I can't wait!

Black Friday Sale

I should have posted this sale earlier, but did not think of it until making a purchase myself. Luxelegwear.com has a 20% off Black Friday sale. Just use the code "bfriday2011" at check out. They also have great deals on the Gerbe line. Unfortunately it looks like they are discontinuing the line. The Satin 20's are 3 for $86. At the discounted price it is $22, half full retail! I ordered a package of 3. I have a pair of these and I absolutley love them. I am also trying a pair of the Voile hose. At the discounted price they too are more than half off, $13 for a pair!

I was going to order some opaque tights, but at these prices it looks like I will be wearing more sheers this winter.

Happy international Men in Tights Day 2011!

I hope you guys out there (and gals too) are donning tights and getting out today to celebrate international Men in Tights Day 2011. I was hoping to do something very public, like climb a local mountain, but a freak snow Storm dumped almost two feet of snow in my area the other day. School is still canceled due to power outage, and the snow is way too deep to go hiking one of our local mountains (some may call them hills at only 200o feet).

So today I will go out for a run, probably wearing my Footless Comfilon Tights, Model # A876. These tights are great for running or other exercise in cool weather. Yesterday, I went running in their A849 footed tights. Both models opaque. It is almost warm enough to get out and run in sheers, but I will wait until later in the week to try that.

So here it is, the Day for us men to wear tights proudly and celebrate international Men in Tights Day 2011, enjoy it guys!

National Stockings Day this Thursday

Charnos Hosiery is promoting National Stockings Day in the UK. They are reportedly making donations to Breast Cancer Care for sales of stockings. National Stockings Day is listed on the National Awareness Days.com, but unfortunatley, international Men in Tights Day is not.

I know I haven't been posting a lot lately, but iMiTD is approaching fast. What will you do tocelebrate the day? I was thinking of climbing a mountain around me if the weather is not too cool.

Footless Tights

I hope I have not lost readers in my summer absence. A lot of work has been done to our house, and the work (hopefully) is nearing an end.

Over the summer, I began exploring running barefoot or with Vibram Five Finger shoes. It has been a pleasant experience, but as colder weather nears, I am at a dilemma as to what to wear for tights.

A new brand made in Poland has come out, Adrian . They are available at Legwear4Men .

I look forward to trying these out. Unfortunatley, house renovations has put a serious dent in my wallet, so it may be a while before I get to try them out.

Sowhat will you do for international Men in Tights Day? I have yet to decide if I will do anything special, orif I will just wear tights and do what I usually do. Are you going to celebrate the day? If so, let me know!

Sorry It has Been So Long

There has been a LOT going on. I have not forgotten about iMiTD, it just has not been in the forefront of my mind. Also, in the summer, I am not wearing tights, so I think about them less.

That being said, would anyone be interested in meeting on iMiTD for coffee or lunch? Obviously we would bbe meeting in tights and what ever else would be fitting for a public meet. I am available to travel anywhere within an hour or so of the Central Massachusetts area. Come on, let's get out on iMiTD and show our legs in tights!

Tights as a Defense Against Ticks

This year in the New England area, ticks seem to be everywhere. Not on purpose, but by chance, I put on an old pair of Leggs sheer tights (shorts and a sweatshirt too), and went outside to try and start my stubborn lawn mower after it had been sitting all winter. Once I got it started (a story for another time) I didn't want to risk it not starting again, so I started mowing. As I was doing so, I thought to myself, "what a great way to keep the ticks off of me!" Even if one did attach itself to me, when I took off the hose, the tick would come off too, a good way to see if I had been bitten. Just another reason for wearing tights!

The next few months will be difficult for me for blogging. First, as the weather gets warm, and tights are not the norm due to warmer temperatures, I will be thinking about them less. Second, a big summer project may distract me. Please stay tuned, because International men in Tights Day 2011 is coming up in 6 short months!

Time to Switch to Sheer Socks

It is that time of year again, time to put away the tights and put on the sheer socks (stockings, knee highs). In the warmer months, even sheer tights (pantyhose) are too warm when I wear pants. I then switch to sheer stockings or socks , what ever you want to call them. I will still on occasion wear sheer tights (pantyhose) with shorts, but it is rare.

The picture shows me wearing Comfilon A 149's, which have now been discontinued. I'm not sure what I will replace them with. The have a sock that is more shear, and a support sock. I did stock up on these, but had a number of them fail last spring/summer. Does anyone else make a sheer mens sock?

Sorry it has been a while since I've posted. I had my big race last week, and preparing for that plus a lot of extra work before left me little time for blogging. I did wear the CW-X tights for the race, and the compression I believe helped to prevent some knee pains. I will be sure to wear these again for long, long races!

The End is Near

The end is near for me wearing tights. At least for the spring/summer! Don't fret, I will still wear, just not under my regular clothing for warmth. With the weather getting warmer, it will be time for me to hang up the tights for the spring/summer. Looking at the weather, I may have a last hurrah, getting out and riding my bike with sheer tights under my bike shorts later this week.

One thing I learned this winter, is that moisturizing ones feet will help to make your sheer hosiery last much longer. I had always had a problem with the feet getting runs, and since I started moisturizing, the sheers have been lasting longer.

I started moisturizing, to keep my feet smooth for running in an attempt to prevent blisters etc. Speaking of running, the big race I will be doing looks like tights weather. I will be wearing my CW-X Ventilator tights to the event next Monday.

Footless Tights (Pantyhose) for Men

I'm thinking of trying some of these Vibram Five Finger Shoes, maybe not this exact style, but you get the point. If I do do, I am looking of r some men"s footless sheer tights (pantyhose). There is not a whole lot out there for the footless variety. There is the Doyeah, but there one size fits all doesn't always fit me. Legwear4 Men has some, made in the USA. It seems like a waste of jet fuel for me to buy them from the UK, when they are made in the USA, and I live in the USA. Anyone know a US supplier?

N2N Sheer Runner

It seems that sheer tights have another brand. N2N came out with a new line of athletic tights called Sheer Runner. As you can see, they have sheer panels on the legs. The waist is a little low, these may be more for fun than purpose, how ever they do look like fun.

Adidas Short Tights

I have been wanting a pair of these for a while. I found some that were on sale because they had last years big race logo on it. Since I did the race last year, and since they were half price, it was time to get some. Essentially half tights are spandex shorts similar to bike shorts without the pad. I like wearing spandex tights/shorts almost as much as regular tights/sheers. I also like the name, short tights.

Who Wears Tights, This Guy

I follow "Runners World" on Twitter, and when I saw a tweet with the above title, of course I had to click on it. It is a funny read about a runner wearing running tights for the first time :

Who Wears Tights, This Guy.

I will say that one of the only things I do like about the cooler weather is that I can wear tights when running. This weekend I wore my CW-X Ventalator tights on a 30k run. They held my knees tightly, and I think helped to alleviate pain in my knees later.

Tights While Running, Tights After

I had a 10 mile race yesterday, a prep race for the big race I have in the middle of April that ends in and is named after a big New England city (hint, hint). It had been snowing, and the temperature was in the low 30's. In those temperatures, I like to keep my knees warm. I wore, like I usually do, Under Armour Cold Gear (tights) Leggings. When the race finished, they had showers available at a local school. Knowing that compression is important after running longer distances, I brought a pair of Comfilon A876 full support footless tights(as seen above) to change into after a quick shower. Although they look opaque, and they mostly are, Comfilon recommends that they be worn with shorts, as they are too sheer to wear alone. I put them on, and a pair of shorts, and I was off to the lunch served after, then home. I'll have to say, due to the opaqueness of them, it probably looked as if I was just wearing regular running tights.

What Ever Happened to Man-T-Hose?

They used to be readily available online, but now they are few and far between. I bought a pair a long while ago, simple sheer tan nylon tights with an extra pouch for your "junk". I wore them for a while until they developed runs. In the mean time I bought another pair to keep as a remembrance of one of the first, be it a novelty or joke, pair of men's tights (pantyhose).

Does it Look Like I Have Sheer Tights On?

As I said earlier in the week, the weather was looking like it would be nice enough to wear sheer tights under my running shorts. The weather did not disappoint, at 55 degrees, it was near perfect weather for sheer tights running. I have on a pair of No Nonsense tan all nylon sheer tights (pantyhose, I am referring to them as sheer tights from now on). I think the color blends in so well that it is hard to tell that I'm wearing tights. What do you think?

Happy Belated Valentine's Day

Did you get tights for Valentine's Day? Alas, I did not. My wife and I have a love/hate relationship with hosiery. I love them, and she hates them. Every holiday that rolls around, I secretly hope to get some tights as a gift from her.

Speaking of tights, I've been thinking about the definition. Wikipedia's article on tights says that in America, tights are anything over 40 Denier, while Pantyhose are those that are below 40 denier. In the UK they are all called tights. I like the word tights when referring to men's wear. It sounds more uni-sex.

It has been warming up here in New England. I went for a run on Valentine's Day while wearing Comfilon footless tights and shorts. If it warms up enough the end of the week, maybe I will run in sheer tights (aka pantyhose) and shorts!

Until next time, stay hosed and stay happy.

Pantyhose in the News

Pantyhose have been in the news lately here in the New England area, but not as a practical piece of clothing, or a fashion statement, rather a way to get rid of ice dams.

In this article it is explained how to fill pantyhose with ice melt such as calcium chloride or salt and to throw it on the roof to melt the ice. Fortunately, I don't have this problem, but I find it funny seeing all the news stories about using pantyhose to melt ice.

Speaking of ice, I am getting ready to go outside and go for a longish run. I will be wearing my CW-X tights under sweatpants since it is so cold. I got these in last week.

They are definitely made fro warmer weather running. I tried them out when I got them in on a warmer cold day, say around 29 degrees, and my legs were cold. Right now it is a balmy 13 degrees, I think that I should wear something over them.

Sometimes it is a No Nonsense Kind of Day

I prefer men's pantyhose, especially ones with a fly, but they can be a bit expensive. When I bought my first pair of pantyhose for myself, I went to a Drug store, and bought a pair of these, No Nonsense sheet to waist 100% nylon pantyhose. They can be bought now for less than $2 a pair, and you can get multi packs for less. These are utility pantyhose. You wear then, and if they run, who cares, they cost less than $2 each, and for me, the tan matches my skin well, being the "stealthiest" pantyhose out there for wearing in public. Who knows, maybe I will wear these on iMiTD 2011!

Do Running Tights Count?

Other than blogging about wearing men's pantyhose/tights, I am also a big runner. I'm currently training for a big very popular race that is held in the middle of April in New England. New England in mid April can be cool. The past two years, I have worn 3/4 running tights or capri's. In training in New England, especially this time of year, I wear full tights, usually Under Armour Cold Gear. I have been drooling over these tights from CW-X for a couple of years. They have sheer panels on the thigh and back of the calf. I haven't been able to bring myself to pay $100 for them though. Today, I found a pair for $50 online. I think I may try them, and hopefully wear them for the big race in April. Running tights do count, and it is already socially acceptable to wear them. You can also sneak in some tights not specifically made for running and get away with it too!

Quick Shipment From Body Aware

I ordered from Body Aware on Tuesday. With regular free shipping form USPS, the order came in on Friday! I ordered a pair of their men's tights and lightweight tights, both with a fly. When they came in, as I suspected they were unpackaged Comfilon A 849's and A549's. Both are my favorite styles, the 849 was slated to be discontinued, but it was saved. Not the same with the 549's. They have been discontinued by Comfilon. I wonder what Body Aware will do about carrying them?

I also got a pair of Jet Briefs, in nude. These are fun! The nylon material is soft, and the, well for lack of a better term, trunk, fits well. It is one size fits all for the trunk. For an average guy it fits fine. Those larger guys may find a tight fit. I wore them under shorts, and it felt like I was going "commando"

We still have plenty of time before iMiTD '11. I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I hope you like me will be wearing tights, be they opaque or sheer on 11/1/11!

Ordered New Tights and Pantyhose Today

I have been wanting to order some tights and pantyhose from Body Aware , a site that specializes in men's underwear. The tights and pantyhose they have, I believe, are re-packaged Comfilion 549's and 849's. I will find out soon enough as I placed an order today. One thing I noticed, is that they have free shipping. That it a plus in my book.

I also ordered a pair of their underwear. They have some unique styles, and I've been wanting to try a pair of their Jet Brief's for some time now. Since I was placing an order, there seemed like no time like the present. I provided a link, but I think the photo is a bit risky. They do look fun though!

Happy 2011, Welcome to international Men in Tights Day!

Happy 2011! I knew that I'd be to busy with work and daily life to post for the New Year, that is why I chose to start the iMiTD conversion early.

I'm still trying to decide what to do to celebrate international Men in Tights Day. If I do it by myself, I will probably just go out wearing tights be they sheer or opaque, depending on the weather. If there was a group of readers that wanted to meet, we could do that too. I am located in the center of New England, and would be willing to meet for iMiTD somewhere within a couple hour drive for a coffee, lunch etc. while wearing tights.

I was going to place an order this weekend with Luxelegwear. I had a 20% off code, and was thinking of ordering some more Gerbe men's pantyhose. It was warmer this weekend, so I wore men's pantyhose instead of tights under my regular work clothes. One day, I wore Gerbe, and the other Comfilon. I realized that I liked the Comfilon A549's better, and they are half the price of the Gerbe even with the discount. Comfilon has discontinued the A549's, but I think that these are the same:

These can be found at Body Aware . From the look and description, they seem to be the same as the A549's. Does anyone know if it is true?

As is always please stay tuned for more new ideas of how we can celebrate iMiTD '11 on 11/1/11.
